General Rules
- If a competitor hears and the committee recites the verse without prior notice, that mistake is considered a notification and only half a point is deducted.
- If the answer of the competitor comes consequently with the committee recitation of the verse, he doesn't lose a point of being told the verse rather just a notification.
- The competitors are not accounted for issues of difference.
- If the competitors don't answer the first question, then the rest are not considered.
- Competitors cannot compete in the same category two years in a row.
- For example, if you compete in the category with 10 juz this year, you will not be able to compete in that same category again next year, Insha'Allah.
- The point for a good voice is to be given according to the judges’ perception.
Code of Conduct
All participants are expected to adhere to the TIQC code of conduct throughout the competition.
Points for Correction and Counted Mistakes
Competitor is informed twice, half a point is deducted for every notification. If he doesn't get it, the verse is recited for him and a full point is deducted added to what has preceded, and this is in the following places:
- If he makes a mistake in the beginning of the question.
- If he makes a mistake during recitation.
- If he stops at a word and doesn't know what is next, after being given a chance for 5-7 seconds, if he doesn't get it, it is recited for him, he loses a point.
If he falls into a lahn jaliyy (clear error) like changing a letter instead of another, or changing a vowel, half a point is taken, and he is not to be notified nor is the verse to be recited to him in the following places:
- Falling short in rules of Tajweed like leaving Ghunna, Qalqala, shortening the obligatory Madd.
- Repeating a lahn khafiyy twice or more in the same question.
- Stopping a bad stopping or starting a bad start. (changes meaning)
